Kindly transcribed by Phil Candy. Phil writes:
“…the list of Quaker burials I had previously provided you with… was itself based on a Key to the Society of Friends Burial Ground held in the Wilts Record Office… I started with the relevant film - or so I thought - from the RG6 Series, and transcribed every burial entry from the Mid Somerset Monthly Meeting that mentioned Frome. I then tried to line up the actual burial records with the abbreviated list from Wiltshire. Although there are still a few gaps, I have been able to add quite a lot of detail, including the actual dates of death and burial for many of the interments, along with the age of the deceased. This means that for many of these entries there is a much better idea of how they might fit in to people's family trees. I actually consulted seven films, but the only one that seemed to contain Frome information is RG6/41, which is described as Burial Registers of the Society of Friends Mid-Somerset Monthly Meeting, 1795-1837.
…By the way, I don't know if you have ever seen a Quaker Marriage Certificate, but it certainly makes you wish your ancestors had been Quakers. Each one takes up a full page, gives the parents of both parties including occupations and place of residence and whether living or deceased. They are also signed, not just by the parties, but by virtually everyone at the marriage, with a special section marked 'Relations.' The ones I looked at from the 18th century often had thirty or more signatures. Ah, and to think my lot stopped going to Church at all for about two generations...”
